ROBERT V MORONEY
JULY 11, 1925 - SEPTEMBER 11, 2000
Bob was born in the Vinegar Hill section of the Bronx on July 11, 1925. He attended the Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx where he played football. Shortly after high school he was in charge of the local CYO teams for his community. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he became a police officer in the New York City Police Department and moved to Farmingdale to raise his family.
In 1964, he was one of the founding fathers and first coaches of the Farmingdale Midget Football Program. Here he proudly served in various capacities such as coach, President, Secretary and Treasurer for over 35 years. During this time, he also formed the Girls Soccer and Softball Leagues that are still in existence today. In addition, Bob held the position of Administrator for District 32 Little League. During the last seven years, he served on the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Youth Football League (NCYFL) as Treasurer.Over his many years of service to the public and the community, Bob has touched many lives of both children and adults. A local newspaper columnist was quoted as saying
"Bob is one of our Great Natural Resources." He certainly was and will be sorely missed.
